Beisel was the youngest member of the U.S. swim team at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, finishing just out of medal contention with a fourth place in the 400-meter individual medley and fifth in the 200 meter backstroke.  Four years later in London, Beisel made it to the Olympic podium with a silver in the 400 meter individual relay and a bronze in the 200 meter backstroke.

Abstract: Electrical charging device chassis and cases are provided herein. An example charging case includes a device receiving tray, a sliding tray having a charging interface, and a stabilizer. The sliding tray translates relative to the device receiving tray to extend and retract the charging interface using a track and gear assembly.

Together, these elements indicate a very strong patterning in the S-HC8 system, reaching almost a perfectly stabilized and strongly oriented water wire. The chiral compatibility of the S-HC8 system with the L-type lipids probably better stabilizes the respective I-quartet channel that adopts a conformation, where water molecules are more strongly associated than in bulk water. The R-HC8 system maintains a strong dipolar orientation with fine-tuned interactions along the water wire, comparable energetics with respect to bulk water, and hence an increased mobility along a structured water path. The HC8 channels are slightly destabilized compared with bulk water and do not form stable wire arrangements in the unsupported lipid bilayers.

The structures and compositions of MGT were characterized by SEM, TEM, XRD, FTIR, XPS, and Raman spectroscopy. TEM images were obtained using a JEM2100 transmission electron microscope operated at an accelerating voltage of 200 kV. HR-TEM images were taken using a JEM-2100F transmission electron microscope with an accelerating voltage of 200 kV. SEM measurements were performed using a field emission SEM (FEI Helios G4 UC) operated under UC (UniColore) mode at 1 kV + 1000 V UC. XPS data were performed on an XPS (AXIS Ultra DLD, Japan) equipped with an Al Kα (1486.6-eV photons). SERS was performed on a Thermo Fisher Scientific DXR Raman microscope with a 10× [numerical aperture (NA), 0.4] microscope and a 10-mW laser power for SERS measurements.

Cooper won the Nobel Prize in 1972 for Physics (along with J. Bardeen and J.R. Schrieffer) for his studies on the theory of superconductivity. The winning work was completed while still in his 20s.
