On August 20, Yang Ming Marine Transport’s official website officially announced that its ship YM Mobility suffered a fire accident on the bow while operating at Ningbo Port on August 9. In order to safeguard the common interests of the ship and all property on board, Yang Ming Marine Transport declared the incident a general average in accordance with relevant regulations.

According to Yang Ming Marine Transport, after the accident, the port administration authorities of Ningbo Port and the local fire-fighting agencies responded quickly, took effective emergency measures, and successfully controlled the fire under professional guidance. By the time the announcement was issued, the accident had been completely resolved.

To protect the safety and interests of the vessel, cargo and crew, and to properly handle subsequent matters, Yang Ming Marine Transport has declared the accident a general average in accordance with the general average adjustment rules, and appointed Richards Hogg Lindley as the adjuster to handle related matters, including collecting the guarantees that should be provided by the parties involved in the cargo.
